Whitney Elizabeth Houston (Newark, 9 de agosto de 1963 – Los \u00c1ngeles, 11 de febrero de 2012 ) fue una cantante estadounidense de R&B, pop y gospel, aunque tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 como actriz, compositora, productora, empresaria y modelo.<\/p>\n

Conocida como \u00abThe voice\u00bb (\u00abLa voz\u00bb) debido a su calidad vocal, Whitney lleg\u00f3 a la fama en 1985 con su \u00e1lbum Whitney Houston, el cual vendi\u00f3 30 millones de copias, y se convirti\u00f3 en \u00e1lbum debut con mayor venta por una int\u00e9rprete femenina. En 1987 lanz\u00f3 su segundo \u00e1lbum de estudio el cual se convirti\u00f3 en el primer \u00e1lbum de una artista femenina en debutar en el n\u00famero uno de los Billboard 200.<\/p>\n

Houston obtuvo el r\u00e9cord de ser la mujer en estar m\u00e1s semanas en el #1, con sus \u00e1lbumes Whitney Houston, Whitney, Waiting to Exhale y la banda sonora de El guardaespaldas, durante 50 semanas.
